Why cant i download nexus mods with mod manager

 · I just got a new computer, so I'm going to install all the graphics mods my old laptop couldn't handle. But, I can't download any mods with the nexus mod manager. I click the file, the little popup with the loading cirlce comes up, then it goes away but no downloads que in the manager. I'm still waiting to hear back on their forums but thought maybe one of you guys would know of a fix/workaround.
